Hey, I'm Tyler

Tyler Walker debuted her new title of “mom” in November 2011. Since that glorious day, she has best been known as Grace and Lucy’s mom. In 32 short years, Tyler has been described by many titles; wife, mom, hall of famer, business owner, friend, and now Cancer Mom.

For the past three years, Tyler has developed her “cancer mom” game. In November 2017 at the age of three, Tyler’s youngest daughter Lucy was diagnosed with Leukemia. Navigating childhood cancer was a hard battle, but through strong faith, friends, family and our “cancer” family support, this experience opened the doors to a new calling in life. Tyler is the founder of Bridges of Gold and creator and cohost of the Golden Voices podcast. She is blessed and excited to share the stage with fellow cancer mom Laura. In Tyler’s spare time she can be seen tearing up the roads on her skates and drinking some tea. Ty is passionate about being a voice for childhood cancer and hopes to bring some light to a challenging time for the lives of families who are navigating childhood cancer.

And I'm
Laura

Laura Mangum-Childers is best known for her stint as Mac’s mom for the past 15 years.  In addition to this luxurious role as personal chef, chauffeur and irritant when it comes to homework; she knows a thing or two about pediatric cancer.

Laura is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked in the field for the past twenty years. She spent six years as a pediatric oncology social worker at Denver Children’s Hospital before relocating back to her home state of Oregon. She has worked in education for the past 13 years in a number of capacities, currently working as an Autism Specialist. Laura also works as a mental health therapist in her private practice which she opened 8 years ago.

Laura was able to put her skills as a mother, educator and social worker to work when her only son was diagnosed with a rare pediatric cancer, Ewing’s sarcoma, in February of 2018. With lots of tears and even more laughter, Laura and her family navigated their way through the unknowns of a life forever changed upon hearing those few short words; “your child has cancer”.

Laura knows life would have been so much more difficult without the fellow cancer moms she met along the way. She is thrilled to be sharing the microphone with Ty Walker.
